Service Center Technician

SYNOPSIS:
The Service Center Technician is responsible for the efficient evaluation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of Phoenix Contact MARKING system printers and TOOL fox tools and automatic devices according to the established Service Model for the Business Unit for the North American Market.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Perform maintenance and repair services for returned printers and devices according to the established processes for the Service Center.
•Conduct failure analysis for returned printers and devices to identify and document root cause for failure.
•Document all service and repair activities in the Service Center global data base according to established processes.
•Create and document testing and analysis procedures for printers and devices.
•Create failure analysis reports and other disposition letters to customers as required.
•Initiate corrective action requests, as required, for returned product.
•Perform Calibration Services for TOOL fox tools and devices.
•Coordinate returns with the QA Product Returns Specialist.
•Perform other duties in support of the Marking & Installation RBU such as custom marking, in house printer updates, and repairs as needed.
•Maintain spare parts inventory required to meet the Service Model Key Performance Indicators.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•High School Diploma.
•Two-year associate degree in electronics field.
•Two years of electronic trouble shooting and failure analysis experience.
•Ability to use electronic test equipment required for the failure analysis of Phoenix Contact electronic product.
•Ability to create and document testing and analysis procedures.
•Good electrical / mechanical skills
•Good mathematical and decision-making skills.
•Ability to communicate and work with others effectively.
•Self-motivated and works with little supervisory direction.
•Good written and verbal skills.
•Computer experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel required and Access, a plus.
•Knowledge of ISO9001, a plus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Able to lift at least 35 pounds.
• Able to use pallet jack with 300-pound load.
• Able to use portable staircase and climb to 12-foot heights.
• Able to carry 20 pound / 3 cubic feet boxes up and down portable staircase.
• Able to push 4-wheeled cart with 100-pound load.
• Able to work 8 hours overtime a week, if required.
• Able to stand or sit continually for two hours without break.
• Able to use stereomicroscope for two hours without break.
• Able to use computer for two hours at a time without break.
• Willing to travel for a week at a time, in and out of country, for training:
maximum of 4 weeks a year.
